Twitter then filed a lawsuit over the government’s attempt to identify the users behing the anti-trump account.
The @ALT_USCIS describes its goal as “immigration resistance”.
Twitter had earlier said that it received summons on the 14th of march demanding information that would reveal the users behind the @ALT_USCIS account.
In the suit, twitter said the request by the government is a threat to free speech.
In the court documents which were filed on Friday, Twitter said that counsel from the Department of Justice contacted the company’s lawyers “to advise that U.S. Customs and Border Protection has withdrawn the summons and therefore the summons no longer has any effect.”
“Because the summons has now been withdrawn, Twitter has voluntary dismissed all claims against the US government.
