Hmmmmmm! We are amazed. Straight men in Netherlands today held hands to stand up to homophobia, using th hashtag
#allemannenhandinhand. This was after with a gay couple was attacked because they held hands in public.
According to reports, a group of young people armed with bolt cutters had attacked a gay couple, Jasper Vernes-Sewratan, 35, and Ronnie Sewratan-Vernes, 31, in Arnhem, a city in the east of the Netherlands, on Sunday morning.
On his Facebook timeline, Jasper wrote:
“Unfortunately, Ronnie and I also became a victim of a hate crime towards gays following the steps in anhem. Two of us walked home but some people were provoked because we were more or less walking hand in hand (We do it more often when we’re alone or walking in public).
But we were attacked by a group of young people between the ages of 14 and 18. I have always said that we weren’t crazy.
Unfortunately one of the guys had bolt cutters, They pulled and pushed us till, all of a sudden it became so escalated, and eventually. before I Knew it, I had 3 men on me.
I fought them but suddenly heard Ronnie screaming that all his front teeth were knocked out by one of those moroccans with those bolt cutters, I went after ‘her’ and the rest of them ran away.
When I went to Ronnie, He had lost about 5 of his teeth. He is now in the hospital but the teeth is a problem and needs to be reset.
A nice date night had become a nightmare.
That this can still happen in 2017 is incomprehensible and hard to understand because in the end, we are just dutch in our own country, but it can’t be like that, apparently, in terms of homosexuality.”
