The importance of Technology in a society can never be over emphasised as it has helped simplify life in several ways including providing easy access to information, improving efficiency and productivity and enhancing convenience in doing business.
In a bid to enhance the Technology Community of Akwa Ibom state, the Hon. Commissioner for Science and Technology Dr. Nse Udo Essien in the company of Dr. Mrs Udom, the E-Library Cordinator Enoabasi Emmah and the CEO of wepow Mr.Imo Udom embarked on a tour to technology and innovation hubs around the state to witness firsthand their activities, challenges and possible opportunities available for collaboration so as to drive innovative ideas.
The tour which started from the Start Innovation Hub at the Ibom E-library ended at The Roothub, AKEES Plaza where they interacted with hubbers.
The Roothub is Akwa ibom’s foremost entrepreneurial and innovation incubator which has a co-working space that is part innovation lab, part business incubator, and part community center that aims to support entrepreneurial network and collaboration by leveraging on technology to expand the scope and impact of startups.
In his words, The Honourable Commissioner said “The Government of Akwa Ibom State is desirous of developing the Tech Community to be at par with advanced communities and his visit was to create an enhanced community of intelligent and creative young persons to work collaboratively”.
According to Mr. Imo Udom, a Tech activist and CEO of Wepow, “WePow is a global leader in recruitment communication,video, branding and mobile talent acquisition in Cupertino, California and I am willing to share my expertise with other young startups by making my network of investors available to all who require it.”
Dr. Mrs Udom who runs an NGO, “Afodise” which is aimed at showcasing the inherent capabilities of Akwa Ibomites to the world said if her son Mr. Imo Udom can achieve a fair measure of success then the people of Akwa Ibom can do Same.
The co-founder of The Roothub, Tony Onuk while thanking the Hon. Commissioner and his team for their timely visit pointed out to the early days of the Roothub at the Ibom E-Library and how the state Government has shown its readiness to work with the Tech activists like Hanson Johnson of Start Innovation Hub, Codekago interactive and a host of startups in the state.
He also highlighted that the Tech Ecosystem in Akwa Ibom is vibrant with lots of young people who are accessing technology as a tool for innovation, Economic development and social transformation.
