Imo State and Nigeria as a whole has gone berserk as Governor Rochas Okorocha celebrates South African president, President Jacob Zuma.
President Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma of South Africa who was on a 2-day courtesy visit to Imo State, Nigeria, had several things done in his honour.
The Imo state governor, Okorocha unveiled a multi million giant statue of Zuma, and named a road after him.
The chieftaincy title, the “Ochiagha Imo” was also conferred on Zuma by Eze Imo, HRH Samuel Ohiri, on Saturday.
Zuma was also awarded with the Imo Merit Award, which is the the highest award in the State.
This award is usually conferred on distinguished personalities who have made a difference in the development of their communities as well as been of help to humanity.
According to Imo State government, President Zuma’s visit was for the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Rochas Foundation and the Zuma Foundation.
According to some Nigerians, they do not know why a statue of the South African Zuma who is facing countless corruption charges was erected in Owerri, Imo State by Rochas Okorocha.
Some indigenes of Imo state have also described the actions as thoughtless, as salaries of many workers in Imo state are yet to be paid.
