Forbes Billionaires list 2017 ranks Bill Gates as Number 1 Richest man for four years in a row.

Forbes Billionaires list 2017 has shown Bill Gates as number one richest man in the world.

According to Forbes, Bill has topped the list for four years in a row and  has been the richest person in the world for 18 out of the past 23 years.

In 2017, the list which was released Monday showed that the list of billionaires has absolutely increased to 2,043 as opposed to 1,810 last year.

“This is the first time ever that Forbes has pinned down more than 2,000 ten-figure-fortunes.” Forbes Staff, Kerry Dolan said.

Bill Gates who sells his Microsoft shares on a regular basis and now owns 2.3% of the company he co-founded in 1975, which in turn accounts for 13% of his fortune.

He also has investments in tractor maker Deere & Co., car dealer AutoNation and Canadian National Railway.

Bill has a fortune of $86 billion, up from $75 billion last year making him the number one richest for the fourth year in a row.

Warren Buffett known as the “Oracle of Omaha,” who is also one of the most successful investors of all time grabbed the number 2 spot from founder of Spanish clothing chain Zara, Amancio Ortega on the list.

His $14.8 billion jump in 12 months made his fortune increase to $75.6 Billion.

The third on the list is CEO and Founder, Amazon.com Jeff Bezos who quit a lucrative New York job in 1994 with the simple idea of selling books online and also bought The Washington Post in 2013 for $250 million added $27.6 billion to his fortune; now worth $72.8 billion.

Founder of Spanish clothing chain Zara, Armancio Ortega, who ranked number two last year dropped to number four on the list in 2017.

Although Ortega’s fortune was up $4.3 billion since last year, he still moved to fourth in the world.

He still remains the richest man in Europe and the wealthiest retailer in the world.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg moved up to number five for the first time after his fortune rose to $56 Billion.

There were 76 newcomers from Mainland China and 25 from The U.S which include John and Patrick Collison, Irish citizens who co-founded San Francisco-based Stripe, which enables online payments. John, age 26, is now the world’s youngest self-made billionaire.
