The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, yesterday, uncovered foreign currencies and Naira notes which amounted to $43.4m, £27,800 and N23.2m.
Chai! This is big money o.
This was recovered from a residential building in the 7th Floor of a four bedroom apartment at Osborne Towers located at 16, Osborne road Ikoyi, Lagos.
A whistle blower had alerted the Commission’s Lagos office yesterday morning saying suspicious movement was noticed in the building.
According to EFCC, a source told them that a haggard looking woman usually appeared on different occasions with Ghana Must Go bags in and out of the building.
The source added that the movers of the bags make people believe that they bring in bags of clothes.
The EFCC met the door of the apartment locked o, but backed by the magisterial order contained in the warrant, they used minimum force to gain entrance into the apartment.
They found neatly arranged US Dollars, Pound Sterling and some Naira notes in sealed wrappers in three fire proof cabinets hidden behind wooden panels of the wardrobe.
Investigations are ongoing. We hope they find the people behind this as soon as possible.
EFCC shared this on Twitter yesterday.
