Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode yesterday went with a group of people to inspected the National Arts Theatre located in Iganmu, Lagos.
The visit was for the evaluation of the present state of the facility.
The edifice which is a multi-purpose national monument for presentation, promotion and preservation of Nigerian Art and culture was constructed in 1976 during the military regime of Gen, Olusegun Obasanjo.
In 1977, the Festival of Arts and Culture was held at the theatre.
According to Governor Ambode, the Lagos state government will collaborate with the Federal Government and the Ministry of Information, Arts and Culture to uplift the national monument.
