A toddler, Lavontay White, and his Uncle, Lazarec Collins, were shot in Chicago. The shooting was streamed live on Facebook by his pregnant aunt, who was shot in the abdomen during the incident.
The 2-year-old toddler and his 26-year-old uncle were in the car that the young woman was driving on Chicago’s West Side as she filmed herself on Facebook Live.
According to Chicago Sun-times, the woman and Collins were listening to music as White sat in the backseat when another vehicle drove past. Someone got out of
the other car and fired more than a dozen shots.
Still recording the video, the woman screams saying someone was shot before the video fades to black. Authorities said that Collins who was a gang member with a lengthy criminal history was the target of a gang hit.
Collins and White were both shot in the head and taken to a local hospital, where they later died.
At the scene, Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson told reporters, “We just cannot afford to have our children shot down for something they had no involvement in.”
No arrests have been made in the shooting, though the Chicago police are still investigating.
